About the Role:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Selective Licensing Assistant to join a well-established Local Authority team in Stockton-on-Tees. This role will support the delivery of a key Selective Licensing project focused on improving housing standards, supporting local communities, and ensuring compliance within the private rented sector.

This is a fully onsite position with parking available onsite, offering the chance to work within a forward-thinking and supportive council environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and support the Tenant Referencing Scheme
• Process selective licensing applications and validate supporting documentation
• Issue licences and maintain accurate records and database updates
• Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, homeowners, and managing agents
• Support property inspections and compliance visits
• Assist with complaints, enquiries, and service requests
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders and partner agencies
• Support financial administration including invoicing, debt recovery, and reporting
• Assist with landlord training initiatives and community engagement activities

Requirements:
• Previous experience within housing, licensing, environmental health, or local authority services
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Experience dealing with landlords, tenants, or housing compliance matters
• Ability to manage databases, records, and case documentation accurately
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and selective licensing processes would be advantageous
