About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Local Authority for an experienced and highly credible Social Work-qualified Interim Team Manager to lead Adult Mental Health social work services within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
This is a key interim leadership position focused on providing stability, operational assurance, and strong oversight during a period of service transformation. You will act as a senior professional lead, ensuring statutory social care duties are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with the Care Act 2014.
A core aspect of this role will involve strengthening governance, performance assurance, and partnership arrangements, including contributing to the development of a formal Section 75 agreement with health partners.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Provide operational leadership of Adult Mental Health social work services
β’ Act as a stable and trusted senior lead, ensuring continuity of service delivery
β’ Strengthen practice assurance across assessments, reviews, and safeguarding activity
β’ Develop and maintain robust performance management and reporting frameworks
β’ Provide oversight and professional challenge within integrated or delegated arrangements
β’ Support governance and accountability framework development
β’ Contribute to the development of a formal Section 75 agreement
β’ Lead practice improvement and embed strength-based approaches
β’ Work collaboratively with health and partner agencies while maintaining clear accountability
β’ Provide visible leadership, guidance, and support to teams
Requirements:
β’ Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
β’ Extensive experience in Adult Mental Health social work and management
β’ Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding legislation
β’ Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving practice standards
β’ Strong background in performance management and quality assurance
β’ Experience working within integrated health and social care settings
β’ Ability to provide professional challenge and maintain effective oversight
β’ Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
Desirable Experience:
β’ Experience with Section 75 agreements
β’ Experience in service stabilisation, transformation, or turnaround environments
β’ Understanding of governance risks within integrated service models
