About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an exciting temporary opportunity for a Governance Business Partner based in Newcastle. Reporting to the Governance & Risk Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining a robust governance framework, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, and supporting high-level organisational decision-making.

This position involves responsibility for audit requirements, governance policy support, and maintaining key registers, alongside coordinating board and committee activity to ensure effective governance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
β€’ Support the development and review of governance policies and processes
β€’ Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory changes
β€’ Maintain key registers (e.g. Declarations of Interest, Gifts & Hospitality)
β€’ Coordinate and submit annual regulatory returns
β€’ Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including Board and Committee members
β€’ Support fraud, bribery, and whistleblowing processes and reporting
β€’ Manage governance reporting, risk registers, and compliance tracking
β€’ Assist in the preparation and coordination of Board and Committee meetings

Requirements:
β€’ Experience supporting boards or governance/company secretarial functions
β€’ Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance principles
β€’ Knowledge of GDPR and relevant legal frameworks
β€’ Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage complex workloads
β€’ Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
β€’ High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
β€’ Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
