About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with Shropshire Council for an experienced Children’s Fostering Social Worker. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility between home working and office attendance, focused on supporting foster carers to provide safe, stable, and high-quality care for children and young people.
You will play a key role in building strong, professional relationships with foster families while ensuring full compliance with fostering regulations, safeguarding standards, and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess, supervise, and support foster carers in line with fostering regulations and national standards
• Undertake Form F assessments and present cases to fostering panels
• Complete annual foster carer reviews and ensure ongoing compliance with policies and procedures
• Provide guidance, training, and development support to foster carers
• Work in partnership with children, young people, and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes
• Manage safeguarding concerns effectively and escalate appropriately where required
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reports
• Participate in duty systems and provide out-of-hours support when required
Working Arrangements:
This is a hybrid role, with staff generally working from home. Attendance at the office is required approximately 2–3 times per month for team and practice meetings. The role also requires coverage across the whole of Shropshire.
Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Experience within fostering services or children’s social care
• Strong assessment, report writing, and communication skills
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
