About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and knowledgeable Welfare Rights Officer to join a local authority team on a part-time basis. This role is pivotal in supporting homelessness prevention initiatives by working collaboratively with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies within the evolving Renters’ Rights landscape.

This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility with two days working from home and one day based at The Council House each week.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work proactively with landlords and local authorities to sustain tenancies and prevent homelessness
• Provide welfare rights advice and guidance to tenants, primarily via telephone
• Signpost individuals to appropriate funding streams and support services
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with relevant legislation and policies

Requirements:
• Strong communication skills, particularly in delivering advice over the phone
• Previous experience in welfare rights, housing, or a related field
• Ability to manage caseloads independently and prioritise workload effectively
• Knowledge of current housing legislation and Renters’ Rights (desirable)
• A proactive, empathetic, and organised approach to supporting vulnerable individuals
