💰 Rate/Salary: £33.30 per hour (UMB MOU)

About the Role:
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) within Coventry City Council’s Responsive Services. EDT provides an essential out-of-hours emergency social care service to support children, adults, families, housing, and youth justice services, ensuring urgent issues are addressed promptly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people, adults, and families outside of standard office hours.
• Provide an out-of-hours housing service when required.
• Oversee and support the work of Children and Family Workers during shifts.
• Make autonomous decisions using the on-call rota system to manage urgent safeguarding scenarios.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure the welfare and protection of the community.
• Work office-based hours as per the variable rota pattern.

Shifts Include:
• Monday to Thursday: 16:45 – 00:30, 23:50 – 09:00
• Friday: 16:15 – 00:30, 23:50 – 09:00
• Saturday/Sunday: 08:20 – 21:00, 20:20 – 09:00

Requirements:
• Previous EDT experience is essential.
• Ability to work autonomously and make independent safeguarding decisions.
• Strong understanding of children’s services, adult social care, housing, and youth justice.
• Excellent communication and crisis management skills.
