About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day operations and ongoing development of a Residential Care Home for older people, including those living with dementia.

Reporting to the Home Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring high-quality, person-centred care is delivered in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and organisational policies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident leader with strong operational knowledge, safeguarding expertise, and a passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Home Manager in the overall management and smooth running of the home
• Lead shifts (including late and weekend shifts) and deputise in the Manager’s absence
• Manage and supervise Senior Support Workers and Support Workers
• Ensure high-quality, innovative, person-centred care for residents with complex needs, including dementia
• Ensure care is delivered in line with support plans, risk assessments, and best practice
• Escalate complex cases and safeguarding concerns appropriately
• Ensure the home operates in accordance with CQC guidelines and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality assurance systems and continuous improvement initiatives
• Audit care plans, medication systems, personal allowances, and internal quality systems
• Complete safeguarding alerts and attend safeguarding meetings as required
• Complete DoLS applications where required
• Investigate incidents and present cases at disciplinary hearings and employment tribunals if necessary
• Allocate and schedule work effectively to maximise resources
• Support recruitment, retention, induction, and supervision of staff
• Monitor sickness absence and manage performance issues in partnership with HR
• Identify training needs and support staff development, including the Care Certificate
• Undertake assessments of potential service users in hospital or community settings
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant digital records (Oracle, Mosaic, Matrix systems)
• Manage budgets and process financial information appropriately
• Handle service user monies in line with procedures
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
• Support digital record implementation and ensure case files are accurate and compliant
• Proactively manage health and safety within the home
• Ensure safeguarding standards are upheld and embedded in daily practice
• Provide emotional support to residents and families/carers
• Ensure dignity, hygiene, and wellbeing are maintained at all times

Requirements:
• Experience in a leadership or senior role within a residential care setting
• Strong knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance
• Experience supporting older adults, including those living with dementia and complex needs
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a staff team
• Experience in safeguarding, investigations, and quality assurance
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to lead by example and drive continuous improvement
