💰 Rate/Salary: £39.00 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role:
Halton Borough Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Children in Care (CIC) Team. This role focuses on supporting young people aged 16–18 as they prepare for independence and transition into leaving care services. You will be part of a supportive and well-established team committed to achieving positive outcomes for looked after children and care leavers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a caseload of young people aged 16–18 within the Children in Care pathway
• Undertake statutory visits, reviews, and care planning in line with legislation and local procedures
• Carry out assessments and prepare reports, including court reports where required
• Work collaboratively with Personal Advisors, IROs, education providers, housing, health services, and other partner agencies to support young people’s transition to independence
• Promote the participation of young people in pathway planning and decision-making
• Ensure safeguarding measures are implemented, monitored, and regularly reviewed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records on the local authority’s case management system
Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience within children’s social care, ideally within a CIC or Leaving Care Team
• At least 3 years’ permanent experience within an English local authority
• Experience working with older adolescents (16–18), supporting transitions into adulthood
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
