About the Role:
We currently have vacancies within the Children We Care For Teams at Sandwell Childrenβs Trust. The service works with children once a Care Order has been granted, with a strong focus on achieving permanence through Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs), long-term fostering, and reunification.
This is a supportive and collaborative service, offering opportunities for both experienced practitioners and social workers looking to develop further skills and career pathways. The role offers hybrid working, with 2β3 days per week office-based, and a 37-hour working week.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Assess the vulnerability of children and young people, delivering interventions that improve outcomes and quality of life
β’ Use assessment and analytical skills to inform effective care planning and promote positive change
β’ Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and reflected in all planning and decision-making
β’ Support young people approaching adulthood through Pathway Planning and preparation for independence
β’ Work with young people on complex issues including child exploitation, missing episodes, substance misuse, mental health, placement breakdown, reunification, and transitions to Adult Social Care
β’ Work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children where required
β’ Collaborate closely with partner agencies and internal teams to achieve permanence and stability
Requirements:
β’ Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
β’ Registered with Social Work England
β’ Completion of ASYE in a Children & Families setting
β’ Experience working with Children We Care For / Looked After Children (direct or transferable experience considered)
β’ Strong analytical, assessment, and decision-making skills
β’ Ability to assess and manage risk in line with legislation and procedures
β’ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
β’ Organised, self-motivated, and a strong team player
