About the Role:
Supply Care Solutions are recruiting an experienced Rent Officer to join Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council. This hybrid role focuses on managing rental income for a designated portfolio of properties, maximising housing revenue, preventing homelessness, and supporting tenancy sustainment. You will work closely with neighbourhood and tenancy teams, Housing Benefits, the DWP, and other partners to provide a customer-focused, legally compliant housing income service.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage rental income for a defined neighbourhood property portfolio
β’ Deliver effective rent collection and recovery in line with legislation, council policies, and performance targets
β’ Promote tenancy sustainment and homelessness prevention through early intervention
β’ Support service development initiatives, projects, and strategies
β’ Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to junior team members
β’ Prepare accurate arrears reports, attend court, and represent the Council in possession proceedings
β’ Conduct interviews and home visits regarding rent payments and arrears recovery
β’ Administer various payment methods including online, telephone, payment cards, and Direct Debits
β’ Liaise with Housing Benefits, DWP, CAB, solicitors, and courts to ensure efficient service delivery
β’ Support investigations, complaints, appeals, and legal challenges, including Judicial Reviews and Ombudsman enquiries
β’ Maintain accurate records, IT systems, and performance indicators, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance
β’ Recognise and respond to safeguarding risks in line with Council policy
β’ Travel across multiple locations as required using personal transport
Requirements:
β’ Experience in housing rent management, arrears recovery, or tenancy support
β’ Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills
β’ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
β’ Knowledge of relevant legislation, welfare reform, and social housing policies
β’ Full UK driving licence and access to own transport (essential)
