Are you an experienced Revenues & Benefits professional with strong data processing skills and up-to-date Council Tax knowledge? Join our Exchequer Services team and support the delivery of essential public services across Knowsley.

About the Role
We are looking for a Revenues & Benefits Officer to efficiently process Council Tax, Housing Benefits, and other Exchequer-related work. You’ll use key financial systems to maintain records, assess entitlements, and provide outstanding customer service. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to supporting local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial data using relevant systems (e.g. NEC Solutions, NEC Enterprise – Doc Management, Oracle Financials)

  • Maintain current knowledge of Council Tax legislation, Housing Benefits, and other financial support schemes

  • Work flexibly across the service to meet changing demands and improve performance

  • Prioritise workloads to meet service targets and deadlines

  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, and external agencies

  • Adhere to data protection laws and internal policies

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within Exchequer Services

  • Confident using NEC systems, Oracle Financials, and Microsoft Office

  • Up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax and/or benefits legislation

  • Strong written and numerical skills

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines

Additional Requirements

  • This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act – all convictions (spent or unspent), cautions, and bindovers must be declared

  • Commitment to safeguarding practices, especially when working with or around vulnerable individuals

  • Ability to follow Health & Safety procedures and report concerns where necessary
