💰 Rate/Salary: Up to £19.00 umbrella
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Family Time Officer to join the Families Together Service on behalf of a North East local authority. This crucial role is focused on providing safe, positive, and constructive family time for children, young people, and their families who are engaged with social care. You will play a vital role in supervising and assessing family time sessions, supporting parents to develop their skills, and ensuring children have safe and meaningful experiences with their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and assess family time sessions, observing parent/carer–child interactions and providing reflective feedback.
• Conduct one-to-one parenting assessments, offering advice, guidance, and support to strengthen parenting skills.
• Identify and manage risks to ensure a safe and positive experience for children and young people.
• Provide logistical support, including transporting children and preparing safe, engaging environments for family time.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, ensuring the child’s voice is captured.
• Collaborate with internal and external agencies, attending care team meetings, child protection conferences, and reviews.
• Engage in professional development through training, team meetings, and development days.
Requirements:
• Experience working with children, young people, and families in a social care or related setting.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of the Signs of Safety practice model (desirable).
• Flexibility to work occasional Saturdays.
• Valid driving licence (preferred, due to transport responsibilities).
