About the Role:
Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking for a truly meaningful role supporting vulnerable children and young people? We’re recruiting Residential Childcare Officers for day and waking night shifts across our client’s children’s homes in Cardiff. This is your chance to help children overcome challenges, achieve positive outcomes, and live full, happy lives.

You’ll work closely within a team to provide direct care and a nurturing environment where young people can thrive. Every day is different, and we’re looking for people with a “can-do” attitude who are ready to go above and beyond.

As a Waking Night Officer, you’ll remain awake throughout the night to monitor, support, and respond to the young people’s needs. You’ll also liaise with out-of-hours services when necessary and take part in detailed handovers at shift changes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide consistent, high-quality care and emotional support to young people
• Promote fun, safety, and personal development within the home
• Monitor and support individuals throughout the night (Waking Night Officer)
• Engage effectively with external out-of-hours services if needed
• Participate in shift handovers and report incidents and observations
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a nurturing home environment

Requirements:
• Social Care Wales Registration (Residential Childcare Officer/Waking Night Officer) – Essential
• Full UK Driving Licence – Required (willingness to obtain business insurance upon placement)
• Previous experience with young people is desirable, but not essential – full training provided
• Full employment history and references required for safeguarding compliance
