About the Role:
We’re recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join our South London Adoption Team on a 3-month interim contract—starting immediately.
This role is based within the South East Assessment Team of the South London RAA, part of Achieving for Children, a Voluntary Adoption Agency. This position is a replacement for a team member who left in March 2025 and offers the potential for extension depending on service needs.

You will be working under the supervision of the Team Manager alongside a Consultant Social Worker and four other Social Workers. We’re looking for a confident, proactive practitioner who can work independently and integrate seamlessly into a high-performing team. Prior experience in adoption is highly desirable.

Working Environment:
Agile working is fully embedded within the service. Home visits are conducted directly from home, and while the team base is at Tooley Street, meetings may be held at various regional venues.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver an integrated social work service across the RAA’s 10 South London boroughs
• Undertake adoption assessments, family support work, and permanency planning
• Respond to the needs of children, prospective adopters, and adoptive families
• Ensure all work aligns with statutory regulations and best practice
• Work collaboratively to drive positive outcomes for children

Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Strong knowledge and/or experience in adoption
• Excellent communication and assessment skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
