Position Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Hybrid Working: 3 days in office, 2 days remote

About the Role:
Walsall Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Children’s Safeguarding and Support team in the North locality. This role will involve working with families who are in need and at risk, providing critical support to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. As part of the Family Safeguarding model, you will collaborate closely with adult practitioners to offer holistic support for families facing complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake assessments, develop care plans, and provide intervention for children and families who require safeguarding and support.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and other professionals in safeguarding practice.
• Work closely with adult practitioners as part of the Family Safeguarding model to offer integrated support to families.
• Ensure that casework reflects the principles of best practice, legislation, and Walsall’s safeguarding policies.
• Lead on complex cases and provide supervision to junior staff where required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and development of services.
• Hybrid working model with 3 days in the office, allowing for flexibility and a work-life balance.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Social Work qualification
• Significant experience in children’s safeguarding and support, including direct work with families in need.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and assessment skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload effectively.

Desirable Attributes:

• Familiarity with the Family Safeguarding model.
• Experience in managing complex cases and safeguarding children in a multi-agency setting.
• Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
