Walsall Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker for our Children in Care (CIC) team. This is a hybrid role, combining office and home working, with office attendance required two days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Allocate and manage cases for children in care (CIC), ensuring high-quality and effective service delivery.
  • Meetings: Chair meetings including Looked After Reviews and other statutory meetings related to children in care.
  • Visits: Conduct statutory visits and assessments to ensure the welfare and needs of children are met.
  • Life Journey Work: Complete life journey work with children in care, helping to create a clear understanding of their history and experiences.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with statutory requirements and council policies.
  • Communication: Demonstrate strong communication skills, working collaboratively with colleagues, children, and external agencies.

What We Need From You:

  • Qualified Social Worker with experience in children’s social work, specifically with children in care.
  • Strong understanding of statutory responsibilities, care planning, and life journey work.
  • Good communication skills to engage with children, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently.
  • Must be able to attend the office 2 days per week.
