About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Worker to join Camden’s Integrated Early Years Service (IEYS). Our vision is to ensure that every child has the best start in life, high-quality early education, and is ready for school by age five.

You will play a key role in supporting children’s early learning and development, particularly for children aged 0-2 years, and working closely with families to improve outcomes for children under 5. By using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, you will model positive interactions, deliver play-based activities, and engage with parents to enhance their child’s communication and language development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Early Childhood Development: Deliver universal and targeted play sessions, courses, and training that focus on communication and language development.
  • Parental Support: Support parents in fostering positive interactions with their children, and help them understand developmental milestones, including supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Home-Based Sessions: Deliver home-based play sessions, as well as parent-focused guidance on a range of topics such as sleep, feeding routines, and positive parenting.
  • Safeguarding: Work with vulnerable families, ensuring child protection and safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are appropriately reported.
  • Crèche Provision: Oversee high-quality crèche services for children under 5 years while their parents attend training or parenting sessions.
  • Service Delivery and Evaluation: Facilitate group sessions, contribute to service development, and provide high-quality record keeping, including data input, attendance records, and incident reporting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external services to ensure families receive comprehensive support, including referring to other services where necessary.

About You:

  • Qualifications: Level 3 in Childcare and Education (or similar relevant qualification).
  • Education: GCSE English and Maths (A-C).
  • Experience: Knowledge of the EYFS framework, early childhood development (under 5s), and safeguarding children procedures. Experience planning and delivering group-based sessions in community settings is essential.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to engage and support families, ability to work independently, and a keen understanding of the barriers some families face in accessing services.
  • IT Skills: Competence in using Word, Excel, Outlook, and database inputting for record-keeping.
  • Inclusive: Ability to provide services that are sensitive to cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic needs.
