Job Overview: An Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) is a trained and qualified professional who is responsible for assessing individuals in crisis who may need to be detained under the Mental Health Act. The role of an AMHP involves ensuring that individuals with mental health issues receive appropriate care while protecting their legal rights. AMHPs are responsible for coordinating the assessment process, making decisions about detention, and ensuring that people are provided with support in the least restrictive environment possible
