About the Role

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Safeguarding Advanced Practitioner (Principal Social Worker) to lead best practices in Adult Social Care. This role involves providing strategic and operational leadership, promoting high-quality social work, and ensuring adherence to evolving legislation and standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and developing social workers, championing evidence-based practice, and enhancing the council’s commitment to delivering exceptional service to the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership in Social Work Practice: Lead and support the Adult Social Care team to ensure excellent social work practice, fostering an environment focused on high standards and continuous improvement.
• Operational Leadership: Provide operational oversight, creating a positive work environment that prioritizes high-quality service delivery and strong team morale.
• Complex Case Consultation: Advise senior management on complex cases, offering expert guidance on challenging situations and updates on evolving legislation impacting adult social care.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with external partners, educational institutions, and professional networks to integrate best practices and strengthen the council’s social care standards.
• Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Monitor and evaluate social work performance, promoting continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.
• Championing Best Practices: Advocate for evidence-based approaches and support the professional development of social workers through mentoring, training, and resource sharing.

Requirements

• Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven leadership experience in social work, particularly in adult social care, with a focus on service improvement, quality assurance, and strategic development.
  • Strong knowledge of local government legislation, including politically restricted roles.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
• Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively advise, support, and guide team members.
  • Ability to provide motivational leadership, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Availability to work outside of standard office hours when necessary.
