Sefton Council is seeking two experienced Independent Reviewing Officers to join our Independent Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Unit.
Job Purpose:
To act as a coordinator and chairperson for Child Protection Conferences and Statutory Childcare Reviews, ensuring the highest standards of practice in safeguarding children and supporting families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and chair initial and review conferences under Sefton LSCB Safeguarding Procedures.
- Oversee statutory child reviews for children in the care of the Local Authority.
- Ensure high-quality minutes for conferences and reviews, facilitating family participation in decision-making.
- Promote multi-agency collaboration and maintain professional standards in all practices.
- Deputise for the Resource Manager in safeguarding matters.
- Assist in data collation and analysis related to conferences and reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with administrative procedures.
- Participate in the Duty rota and chair various meetings including Allegations and Suitability Meetings.
- Contribute to staff training and development initiatives.
- Liaise with professionals and agencies to enhance service delivery.
- Engage in departmental and inter-agency working groups as necessary.
- Advise on resource shortfalls and recommend improvements.
- Assist in staff recruitment and monitor the effectiveness of safeguarding systems.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer or in a similar role within children’s services.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment.
