Children Project Social Worker

Hours: Full-time position, however part time considered (3 days a week, 22 to 24 hours)
Pay Rate – £33.00+ per hour – Umbrella
Contract: 4-6 month agency contract – potential for extension
About the Role:
2 roles:
Case holding but with capped caseload to allow progress of discharge of care orders.
A mixture but reduced case management role, the rest is more to concentrate on assessments.
A qualified social worker with more than 2 years experience is sought to complete assessments, court statements and all relevant documentation to progress discharge of care orders for children placed with parents. The candidate must have experience of court related work, have excellent writing skills and organisational skills to keep within tight timescale.
The position is a case holding position and includes all relevant statutory duties. It is expected this assignment will be for a maximum of 6 months. The start date is 04 November 2024 or as soon as possible after that. The role involves the use of private transport (own car) to visit children and families. There will be a combination of remote working and on site days. consideration will be given to condensed hours ( 4 days a week).
Time limited project opportunity for experienced qualified children’s Social Workers to work within Shropshire for approximately 6 months in order to focus on progressing discharge of Care Orders for children placed with parents and applications for Special Guardianship Orders for children already in the care of connected carers or foster carers under Care Orders.
This small dedicated team is supported by a project lead who has oversight of all work undertaken as part of the project and by additional capacity in our legal department in order to progress these discharges and enable children to live without ongoing statutory intervention. Children will only transfer into the project once they are assessed as ready to discharge.
Experience is required around working with children who are accommodated, their families and carers. Experience is essential around writing timely child and family assessments and court statements – specifically writing placement with parent assessments, discharge statements in respect of Care Orders and SGO assessments.
Candidates need to be skilled at organising their diary and keeping focus on task, also experienced and confident enough to be able to work within a small independent team and progress all allocated discharges within the lifetime of this project.
