About the Service

The Adult Social Services is committed to achieving the highest standards in care and safety so that residents can look after themselves and live more independent and fulfilling lives. The Council has recently reviewed the structure of the Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty (DoL’s) team, preparing us to move to Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS), strengthen the safeguarding function further and create a lead to ensure that mental capacity is embedded in our practice and there is a seamless transition to LPS. They have two management vacancies within the Safeguarding team. A Safeguarding Manager who will have overall responsibility for the day to day management of the team, work closely with the DoL’s Manager and report to the Head of Service for Assessment and Safeguarding. An MCA Manager who will have overall responsibility for the day to day DoL’s function in the council, work closely with the Safeguarding Manager and oversee the move to LPS. They will report to the Head of Service for Assessment and Safeguarding.

About the Roles

The Council is committed to embedding a ‘strengths-based approach’ and delivering social care by implementing exciting new initiatives ‘locality based models of care’ and in partnership with Health and Trust colleagues and community and voluntary sector partners. All social care staff in the council are expected to lead in applying the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and social care agenda to safeguard Haringey residents. All social care staff are experts in championing the Council and local community resources.  Your responsibilities will include taking part in team referrals, duty, attending Perform+ huddles, Council forums, and liaising with other adult teams, Council services like Housing, Brokerage, Reablement, MH Trust teams, CCG’s, care homes and inpatient wards to support people’s health and social care needs and ensure that residents are safeguarded.
You will be confident in all aspects of social care legislation and the community resources people can use or be referred to the council. You will be working in one of London’s liveliest and most culturally diverse Boroughs. The Council is signed up to the use of forums such as Community Care Inform and tools such as Tri.x and Perform+ and other national professional development networks to support you in delivering excellent outcomes for residents and support the learning and development of social care staff. You will be confident in accessing and using Council resources and systems including MOSAIC, Hari-NET, and Connected Communities.

About You

As a manager you will have a focus on the service delivery in your area of expertise. As the lead professional you will be responsible for providing leadership to the team and organisation in your area of responsibility, for collaborating with key stakeholders and partners, impacting, and influencing safeguarding practice within the Borough. Within your area of expertise, you will focus on delivering key performance areas and a high quality of care.  You will be an ambitious professional wanting to progress to positions of senior management. You will embrace and model the Haringey values in your day to day work.  You will be a qualified social worker additional qualification of BIA for the MCA Manager post.  You will have previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team, people management and have a sound knowledge of legislation that underpins health and social care for adults. You will be aware of good practice guidance and standards from organisations such as ADASS, Social Work England, and CQC. You will good have good IT skills and a confident approach to a range of health and social care records, processes and systems.  In return you will enjoy high quality professional support and supervision, access to excellent training and career opportunities. Qualifications & Experience for the Role

• Diploma in Social Work or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work
• Proven experience
• Current DBS
• SWE Registration

Qualified Social Worker Requirements

– CSW/CQSW/DipSW/BA/MA in Social Work
– Proven post qualifying experience in working with childrens services
– Current Social Worker England registration
– Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure
– Eligibility to work in the UK without work permit or visa restrictions
– Commitment to the safe care and well-being of vulnerable people
