💰 Rate/Salary: Up to £19.00 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Role:
We are pleased to share an excellent opportunity with our valued client in Sunderland for an experienced Child and Family Worker to join their team on a locum basis. This is a rewarding role where you will make a meaningful impact by supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families. The focus of the role is to help keep children safely at home wherever possible, and when this is not achievable, support families in identifying safe alternative care arrangements and facilitating rehabilitation when appropriate.

A core part of the role involves supervising and facilitating family time between cared-for children and their families, ensuring these sessions are safe, purposeful and focused on positive outcomes. You will also support social workers across Child Protection Plans (CP), Child in Need Plans (CIN), and Cared for Children (CLA), undertaking direct work such as family support, life story work and supervised contact.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the delivery of Edge of Care, CIN, CP and CLA plans
• Facilitate and supervise safe, meaningful family time
• Manage and redirect challenging behaviour professionally and sensitively
• Transport children to and from family time sessions (including travel outside Sunderland)
• Keep clear, accurate and timely case recordings and produce high-quality written reports
• Build strong working relationships with children, families and professionals
• Ensure family time sessions run smoothly and communicate changes promptly
• Organise workload efficiently, including transport and venue arrangements
• Support social workers in addressing the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people

Requirements:
• Experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• Ability to produce high-quality written work
• Ability to travel as part of the role
• Understanding of CP, CIN and CLA processes
