💰 Rate/Salary: Up to £42 per hour (DOE) + £150 per week accommodation allowance

About the Role:
We are pleased to share an excellent opportunity for experienced agency Social Workers to join the Assessment and Intervention Service at Torbay Council. This long-term placement is suited to practitioners with strong statutory experience and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for children and families.
Please note: Previous applicants will not be reconsidered.

DFE Agency Compliance Requirements:
• Minimum of three years post-qualifying experience in direct employment with an English local authority
• Must not have left a permanent social work role within the last six months from a children’s services department or a local authority in the South West region
• Must be available to work from the Torbay office each week

Key Responsibilities:
• Safeguard vulnerable children and follow established procedures for reporting concerns
• Initiate safeguarding actions to protect children at risk of significant harm
• Undertake interviews, observations and gather information to produce holistic assessments
• Develop purposeful care plans with clear aims and outcomes
• Complete statutory reviews to ensure care packages remain appropriate and cost-effective
• Promote early intervention and preventative services
• Apply threshold criteria effectively to ensure the most vulnerable receive the right level of service
• Actively contribute as a team member
• Complete Section 47 Child Protection investigations in line with Working Together 2023
• Complete Initial and Core Assessments within required timescales
• Use Liquid Logic LCS for all recording and assessments
• Comply with Financial Regulations and corporate policies

Requirements:
• Social Work England registered
• Proven statutory experience within safeguarding/assessment
• Ability to travel across Torbay and out of county when required
• Strong assessment, planning and communication skills
