💰 Rate/Salary: Up to £30.00 per hour Umbrella (*depending on experience)

About the Role:
We’re excited to collaborate with a Local Authority in South London seeking a proactive and committed Placement Officer to join their Children’s Services team.
In this key role, you’ll help secure high-quality, cost-effective placements that meet the unique needs of vulnerable children and young people. You’ll work closely with social workers, care providers, and other professionals to support positive outcomes and safeguarding responsibilities within the borough.

Key Responsibilities:
• Source, negotiate, and secure placements (residential, foster care, supported accommodation, etc.)
• Manage placement referrals and assess suitability
• Ensure statutory and safeguarding compliance
• Maintain relationships with providers and internal teams
• Monitor provider performance and placement records
• Support the preferred provider framework
• Contribute to cost-effective placement strategies

Requirements:
• Experience in placements, commissioning, or similar within children’s social care
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and legislative understanding
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
• Solid administrative and IT competency (case management systems experience ideal)
• Commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
